girl in the bathtub
call me a creep but i saw this lovely girl at the bustop. she had a radio bag, a pink headband and was sipping on pink cordial. she had clothes on at the time. but i thought she was so beautiful and she inspired me to draw this.

to be copied is to be flattered?
i'm having lots of interesting thoughts about art school. is it for me? i've met some great people and learnt some useful things but i'm wondering if a bachelors degree in art is something that i need or even want. you don't need a piece of paper to qualify as an artist, and i find that being at uni is actually stopping me from doing a lot of my 'own' work, meaning work that isn't for the sake of a grade and a criteria, which is the work i enjoy most. i'm thinking of transferring to psychology instead. it would be full on, but maybe more useful in the end?
on another note, i just found out that some girl has been copying my work and uploading it to instagram and calling it her own. she also denies the fact that she knows who i am. i'm slightly bothered by this but at the same time i just feel like it means i need to move on. also it's nice, in a really twisted sort of way that someone would like my work enough to want to steal it? anyway, i want to create bigger and better things. step outside the box i have created for myself and move onto more ambitious and fine art related projects. oh, and i want to do it on my own terms.

lost lace
so, it's taken me a while to get around to showing my uni work, but here is the piece i made in jewellery class. the process is called lost wax casting and is something i've never done, or thought about doing before. first the object is carved from wax using little tools and heat, it was then sent away to a casting foundry and comes back in sterling silver! then polished and this was the result. i like it quite it, for a first attempt, if i do say so myself.

tiny water-stained girl
i was flipping through my visual diary and came across a page that i'd used as a watercolour palate and on the other side there was these colourful water stains where the paint had soaked through, so i cut it out and drew a 6cm girl on there - and this is her, in all her tiny glory!
